Time for Tea

Sat 14 September 2024 - Sun 7 September 2025

Millennium Gallery

This new display celebrates a great British social pastime – enjoying a cup of tea together.

In the last year, Sheffield’s designated Metalwork Collection received two significant donations of Britannia metal vessels, designed and manufactured in Sheffield from 1780s to 1860s, including several teapots and containers for loose leaf tea.

We’ve also been working with Xenia, a social group for women learning English in Sheffield to include their reflections on the culture of tea, alongside artworks and objects from the city’s Visual Art, Industrial and Social History collections.

This display is made possible thanks to objects generously donated by Mr and Mrs Pert, and by Mrs Lamb on behalf of the David Lamb Collection
