WPM 150 Weston Park Museum at 150

Thu 28 August 2025 - Sun 30 August 2026

Weston Park Museum

To mark the 150th anniversary of Weston Park Museum, this small exhibition highlights some of the objects that formed the basis of Sheffield’s collections, many of which were on display when the museum opened in September 1875.

It includes the first object accessioned into the collection; a specimen of Platypus which was given the museum number A1, many other items donated by Sheffield Literary and Philosophical Society, who’s gift made Sheffield’s first public museum possible and a slideshow of photographs of the museum over the last 150 years.

Suggested donation £5 – Please donate if you're able and help keep your museums open and available for everyone to enjoy.
