Evening Discussion: Protest and Progress

Thu 7 March 2024 , 6pm-8pm

Millennium Gallery

Social progress often begins when we identify a wrong and take action to put it right.

Join Sheffield citizens Susan Downer, Mamie Shafi and Ethel Mageda as we look at artists and artefacts that say something about the nature of progress and discuss how we can all become agents of change.

The event will feature short presentations on artists from different parts of the world, 'provocations' to inspire discussion, and the opportunity for all participants to share their thoughts and experiences on how to protest. We'll ask if it's time to redefine progress and explore how to celebrate and amplify the many examples of peace and unity in today's deeply divided world.

Stories, poetry and experiences of social change from around the world are all welcome.

Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is funded by Transforming and Activating Places at the University of Sheffield and supported by Sheffield Museums.
