The theme of Learning Disability Week 2024 (17 – 23 June) is 'Do You See Me?' It is a positive message created by people with learning disabilities about challenging barriers, being seen, heard, and valued.
Sheffield Mencap & Gateway are hosting a series of free, drop-in workshops at Weston Park Museum.
Self-Portraits with Sheffield Mencap
Wednesday 19 June, 11am–12:30pm and 1:30pm–3pm
Join a group of adults with learning disabilities as they explore self-portraits and creative collage. You’ll have the chance to create your own self-portrait using a variety of media.
Creative Writing with Sheffield Mencap
Thursday 20 June, 11am–12:30pm and 1:30pm–3pm
Join a group of adults with learning disabilities as they create acrostic poems that express who they are. You'll also have the opportunity to write your own autobiographical acrostic poem.

Friday 21 June, 11am–12:30pm and 1:30pm–3pm
Join a group of adults with learning disabilities as they explore self-portraits and creative collage. You’ll have the chance to create your own self-portrait using a variety of media.
Children and Family Activities with Sheffield Mencap
Saturday 22 June, 10am–3pm
This is an inclusive session that allows children of all abilities to explore art, active games and fun challenges – with prizes to be won! There will also be screenings of a short film made by a group of children with learning disabilities from Sheffield Mencap.
