Sheffield Life and Times

Continuing Display

Weston Park Museum

Discover some of Sheffield's fascinating stories, told from the point of view of people who’ve lived here, in our Sheffield Life & Times gallery.

See a true Sheffield icon, the original 1960s Cole Brothers sign, and favourites like Burton’s butchers shop, the Park Hill kitchen, and the Victorian yard.

Explore unique stories from the city, such as the pioneering work of Painted Fabrics Company Ltd who employed injured soldiers during the First World War, and the disaster caused by the 1864 Great Sheffield Flood.

Other displays include toys through time (did you have one of them?), Professor de Lyle’s Punch and Judy dolls, and an introduction to Sheffield’s sporting history. Visitors can also take charge of turning back the clock themselves with our interactive digital map.

Sheffield Life & Times has been supported by a major grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
