Talk: The Story of James Neill – A Giant of Sheffield’s Tool Industry

Wed 8 July 2026 , 1pm-1:45pm

Kelham Island Museum

Enjoy an illustrated story of James Neil, which went on to become the second biggest tool company in Europe.

Using items from the Hawley Collection, this talk will tell the story of the company which produced its own steel, expanded through acquisitions, and eventually was branded as Spear and Jackson.

This event is organised by the Ken Hawley Collection Trust. Find out more about the collection at www.hawleytoolcollection.com.
