Find out about the future of key historic sites, and chat with over 40 local groups who care for and promote Sheffield’s history and heritage.
This year promises to be a captivating cornucopia of city heritage – among the highlights, you’ll be able to learn out all about ‘The Home of Football’, in particular the stories of Sheffield FC and Hallam FC and the remarkable legacy of the Sheffield Rules. With 2024 marking the 160th anniversary of the Great Sheffield Flood, you’ll also be able to find out about the recent initiatives to commemorate this significant event.
During the weekend, you’ll hear the latest updates on current local development projects, such as the progress on the site of Sheffield's lost medieval castle. There’s also a display to highlight the late Stan Shaw, one of Sheffield's legendary 'little mesters', as well as stalls and information from more than 40 voluntary heritage and conservation groups run by dedicated and enthusiastic Sheffielders.
This event is organised by well-known Sheffield character, author, and provider of Sheffield-based historical walks and talks, Ron Clayton, and historian and speaker, David Templeman.
