Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet

See what it was like to live in this two-storey cottage, furnished to show what living conditions were like for workers in the mid-1800s.

 

The row of Workers' Cottages was built between 1786 and 1793.The Cottages traditionally housed the 'forgemaster' and his 'heater lad' who worked in the Tilt Forge, amongst other people.

***The Grinding Hull at the Hamlet is currently closed while repairs to the dam take place***

Joni, the Hamlet cafe, is open daily
