Lunchtime Talk: The National Folklore Survey for England - Part Two

Tue 10 November 2026 , 1pm-1:45pm

Weston Park Museum

Find out about the folkloric stories, beliefs, and customs of people living in England today.

Almost 90% of people in England are familiar with the figure of Robin Hood. A quarter of people in England today say the summer or winter solstices are of spiritual significance to them personally.

Back in February, the team behind the The National Folklore Survey for England came to Weston Park Museum to introduce the project and outline some of its early findings. Now they're returning to share their discoveries about what the people of England value, believe, and practice. To find out more, please visit: www.nationalfolkloresurvey.co.uk

The National Folklore Survey for England began in January 2025. It is funded by the AHRC and led by Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Hertfordshire and Chapman University, California. Find out more at nationalfolkloresurvey.co.uk

This talk forms part of the programme of events complementing the exhibition Gathering Landscapes which opens at Weston Park Museum on 27 November 2025, until 1 November 2026.
