FULLY BOOKED Kelham Makes: Copper Bowls Workshop

Thu 21 March 2024 , 6:30pm-9pm

Kelham Island Museum

Learn how to make a decorative and functional copper bowl using heat, a hammer and a sandbag, under guidance from professional metalworker Melissa Montague.

During this hands-on workshop, Melissa will guide you through all the techniques you need to need to create your own beautiful bowl to take away. You'll work with aluminium and copper and learn how to texture sheet metal using hammers and punches to create your own, unique, vessel.

No prior experience needed and all materials will be provided.  The bowls are approx. 58mm when finished.

Adults only (16+)

Melissa Montague is a metalsmith whose practice explores traditional silversmithing techniques such as hammer raising and forging. Predominantly working with silver, copper and brass Melissa creates vessel forms and spoons, which question the boundaries between function and sculpture.
