Drawing from History

Sat 13 April 2024 , 1:30pm-3:30pm

Millennium Gallery

Practise sketching and explore the displays in the gallery in a different way in this new drop-in activity run by our wonderful gallery volunteers.

You might choose to loosely sketch a few objects or focus in on one detail. You can follow the prompts given by the volunteer or draw whatever interests you. No artistic experience is necessary – this is a friendly, informal activity where everyone is welcome!

Pencils, paper, drawing boards and stools will be available, though you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook if you prefer. Please note that due to the delicate nature of the objects on display, we only work with pencil and wet media are not permitted.

This is a free activity, rather than a taught class, so feel free to drop in at any time during the two hours and have a go.

Drawing from History sessions take place across the museums this spring:

Sat 13 Apr, Millennium Gallery

Sat 11 May, Graves Gallery

Sat 8 Jun, Weston Park Museum
