Decolonising Museum Collections

Thu 4 July 2024 , 10am-4pm

Kelham Island Museum

Join us at Kelham Island Museum for a day of discussions about how museums and their collections are tied up with histories of colonisation.

With a range of talks and workshops, the day will focus on how we understand complicated histories of the British Empire, and how museum collections might untangle and display these relationships.

Led by students at the University of Sheffield, University of Leeds and University of York, this event is open to anyone over 16 years old interested in museum displays and the history of colonisation.

Please choose with talks and workshops you would like to attend by adding them on at the checkout.

This event is kindly supported by the AHRC via the White Rose College of Arts and Humanities.

Warning: Due to the topics covered, the talks and workshops may include some disturbing content. For this reason, tickets are 16+.
