Sheffield Makes: Noble and Wylie

This shoe-maker uses sewing machines that are over 100 years old to make modern shoes from his workshop and shop in Sheffield!

Noble & Wylie is a shoemaker based in Sheffield, making sustainable footwear, rooted in heritage and craftsmanship. Kenneth discusses the background of his workshop and shows us the making process from cutting to finishing. He also addresses the modern realities of running a successful brand and workshop today, including the conflicting impact of social media.

This is Sheffield Makes, produced by Sheffield Museums - short films about Sheffield makers, processes and products produced within the City of Sheffield and surrounding area. It’s part of our Digital Programme, and we’ll be releasing a new film every month to offer a unique insight into the latest chapter in Sheffield’s making story.
