From November 2023 a new exhibition at Weston Park Museum will explore all we know and love about Sheffield’s waterways. We want to celebrate the rivers, streams, becks, lakes, reservoirs, and canals which make Sheffield the City of Rivers.

The exhibition will include a range of historic postcards of Sheffield waterways. We need your help to bring this display up to date by capturing what your favourite Sheffield waterway means to you. It could be the riverside you love walking along, the bridge you cross every day to go to work, the stream you’ve paddled in at the local park, or the local wildlife that live by the water.

Please send us:

  • a single photograph (maximum 8mb) that best captures what you love,
  • up to 50 words explaining why you enjoy it,
  • and include your name and the location the photo was taken.

Send via email to exhibitions@sheffieldmuseums.org.uk by 30 September 2023

Selected photographs will be displayed in the City of Rivers exhibition at Weston Park Museum from November 2023.

By submitting your photograph you are granting permission to Sheffield Museums Trust to reproduce it in the City of Rivers at Weston Park Museum exhibition and/or in an online exhibition gallery at www.sheffieldmuseums.org.uk for any period between November 2023 and November 2024. Please note that we do not guarantee to display all photographs that are submitted.

We welcome photographs that show people enjoying spending time by water. If your photograph includes any people other than yourself, please ensure you have obtained their permission, or their guardian’s permission if aged under 18.
